Social Security Disability

SSD benefits provide essential financial support to individuals who are unable to work due to severe medical conditions. These benefits, administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA), act as a lifeline for those in need.

To qualify for SSD benefits, your medical condition must:

Prevent you from performing substantial gainful activity (SGA).

Be expected to last at least one year or result in death.

The SSA uses a five-step evaluation process to determine eligibility, which includes reviewing your medical records, work history, and ability to perform any type of work. Navigating this process requires a thorough understanding of the SSA’s requirements, and that’s where our expertise can make a difference.

Additionally, some applicants have medical conditions that are so severe that their conditions obviously meet disability standards. To quickly identify and help these individuals, Social Security has a list of Compassionate Allowances, or conditions that they will qualify for benefits based on evaluation of minimal, official medical records. There are also 14 categories of “listed impairments,” which describe specific medical criteria for various impairments that will essentially result in an automatic disability determination, without the need to consider age, education, or work experience. Most types of illnesses, however, can vary from minor to severe. This makes defining disability tricky., as it depends on how badly the illness or disease has affected you.

Navigating the SSD application process can be complicated, but with our experienced team by your side, you’ll have the support you need to succeed.

Complete Application Assistance

The initial application process is critical. We work with you to ensure your application is complete, accurate, and supported by strong medical evidence. This includes:

  • Compiling your work history to demonstrate your eligibility.
  • Ensuring all forms and paperwork are submitted correctly and on time.

Appeals for Denied Claims

If your claim is denied, don’t give up! Unfortunately, most initial applications are denied for various reasons such as insufficient evidence or minor errors. We specialize in guiding clients through the appeals process, which may include:

  • Reconsideration: A new review of your application by the SSA.
  • Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) Hearings: Presenting your case before a judge with compelling evidence.
  • Appeals Council Review: Challenging the ALJ’s decision with additional legal arguments.
  • Federal Court Appeals: Written legal arguments will be submitted and oral arguments will be attended, if necessary

Expert Representation

SSA’s requests may sometimes feel unknown and tiresome. To us they are routine and common. We will assist you in finalizing Standard Social Security questionnaires and filing appeals on time, obtaining doctors’ records, as well as reports and interrogatories. This ensures your case is presented in the strongest possible way, giving you the best chance of approval.
